Mandate Overview

The mandate

Cyprus accepts e-invoices through Peppol for public-sector procurement under the transposition of EU Directive 2014/55/EU, coordinated by the Department of Information Technology Services (DITS) and the Treasury of the Republic. B2G acceptance has been operational since April 2019. There is no mandatory B2B e-invoicing regime today, though the Cyprus Tax Department has indicated alignment with ViDA. Voluntary Peppol adoption is gradually increasing, particularly among Cypriot subsidiaries of EU-headquartered multinationals.

FAQ

Common questions

Is e-invoicing mandatory in Cyprus?

B2G acceptance via Peppol has been required since 2019 under the EU Directive transposition. B2B is voluntary today, with the Cyprus Tax Department signalling alignment with ViDA's 2030 deadlines rather than a unilateral mandate.

What format does Cyprus use?

Peppol BIS 3.0 is the standard for B2G submissions and the dominant voluntary format for B2B exchange, routed through certified Peppol Access Points.
