Mandate Overview

The mandate

Italy operates the most mature e-invoicing mandate in the European Union. Since January 1, 2019, all VAT-registered businesses must issue and receive structured invoices in the FatturaPA format through the Sistema di Interscambio (SDI), the centralized clearance platform run by the Agenzia delle Entrate. Cross-border transactions have also been reportable through SDI in FatturaPA since July 1, 2022.
